10 Days Uganda Primates Safari

Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Transfer to your hotel
Our company tour guide will pick up from the Entebbe international airport on arrival and transfer you to your hotel in Kampala for early rest and be ready for early set off on Day 2. Dinner and overnight stay at Kampala serene hotel / Lake Serena hotel (luxury) (Luxury), Boma hotel (Midrange), 2 Friends beach hotel (Budget)

Day 2: Transfer to Murchison Falls national park
Start off on you journey early morning after breakfast at your hotel for Murchison falls national park. En route visit the Zziwa Rhino sanctuary and lunch in Masindi then proceed to Murchison falls national park. On arrival you will drive to the top of he falls where you will have a tour around the falls; hear the roaring thunder of the river Nile. Overnight at Paraa Safari Lodge (luxury), Pakuba Lodge (midrange) and Red Chili Rest Camp (budget)

Day 3: Game drives and a boat cruise
Set off after an early breakfast at your hotel, for a morning game drive on the southern banks of the river where you will have an opportunity to view some of Africa’s unspoilt big game see the the BIG 5 – lions, elephants, buffaloes and leopards. Other wildlife to see includes giraffes, Hartebeest, Bushbucks, Jackal, hyena, oribis, Uganda kobs and many others. After lunch, you will carry out a launch cruise which will take you to the bottom of the falls along the River Nile.

The Nile hosts large concentrations of Hippos and crocodiles. For the birders, Murchison Falls is a birder’s paradise with concentration is many bird including the rare shoebill stork, Fish Eagle, African Skimmer, Grey-crowned Crane, Black-headed Gonolek, Goliath Heron, Green-winged, Long-toed Plover, Saddle-billed Stork, . Overnight at hotel of Day 1

Day 4: Transfer to Kibale National park
With early breakfast at your hotel and be ready to transfer to Kibale national park national park reaching in the time for lunch. In the afternoon head out for a community walk to visit the crater lakes region where you will have spectacular views of the Lakes. Dinner and overnight stay at chimpanzee guest house (budget)/crater safari lodge (mid range)/Kyaninga lodge (luxury)

Day 5: Chimpanzee Tracking – Bigodi swamp tour
You will wake very early in the morning have breakfast and get your packed lunch and then head to Kanyanchu park headquarters in Kibale forest national park where you will be allocated a guide who will brief you and you then head for chimpanzee tracking in the forest.

Kibale forest national park is called the primate capital of east Africa because of the high primate population it has. It’s the only national park in east Africa where one can have the best primate tracking viewing the chimpanzee man’s closest primate and many other primates like monkeys plus a number of bird species.

You will get chance to have your lunch in the wild as you listen to the sights and sounds of the forest. After tracking, you will return to the park headquarters, relax a bit and head to the Bigodi wetlands if you are interested in birding or visit the Bigodi community for community tourism and later return to your lodge

Day 6: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National park – Afternoon Boat Cruise
Set off early after your breakfast at your hotel for Queen Elizabeth national park on a 4 – 5 hours’ drive. Enroute you will have a game drive through the Ishasha sector of the park where you will have a unique opportunity to view tree climbing lions. Head to your hotel for lunch and in the afternoon go out for a boat cruise along the Kazinga channel. Return to your hotel for Dinner and overnight at; Enganzi Lodge (budget), Marafiki safari lodge (midrange) and Mweya safari lodge (luxury)

Day 7: Morning Game Drive – Transfer to Kalinzu Game Reserve for Chimps Tracking
Today you will set off quite early with packed breakfast and head out for your early morning game drive to catch sight of the early risers. This is the best time to see wildlife along the Kasenyi trail. Expect to see elephants, buffaloes, lions, waterbucks, Uganda Kobs and quite a number of others. Return to your lodge for lunch. In the afternoon head to Kalinzu forest reserve for chimpanzee tracking. Dinner and overnight at Enganzi Lodge (budget), Marafiki safari lodge (midrange) and Mweya safari lodge (luxury)

Day 8: Drive to Bwindi through Ishasha Sector
Have breakfast to transfer to Bwindi impenetrable National Park, a home to 360 mountain gorillas. The journey goes through the Ishasha sector famous for Tree-Climbing lions. Take a community walk where you will be entertained in some of the cultural dances of the Batwa Pygmies. Dinner and overnight at Mahogany Springs or Gorilla Forest Camp (Luxury)/ Silverback Lodge (Midrange)/Buhoma Community Bandas or wagtail eco safari camp (Budget)

Day 9: Gorilla Trekking – Batwa Community
Your day begins with an early cup of coffee and your guide will drive you to the Bwindi park head quarters where all visitors going for gorilla trekking gather for briefing about conduct / behavior when you meet your gorilla family. Trekking for gorilla in Uganda usually last 2 – 7 hours depending on the movement of the gorillas.

A head guide will escort you into the forest plus an armed guard in search for your gorilla group. Once you meet the gorillas, you are allowed 1 hour with the gentle giants. After trekking descend back to the park head offices where you will meet you guide to drive you to your hotel for lunch. In the afternoon, have a Batwa pygmies cultural experience. Dinner and overnight at your lodge.

Day 10: Departure
After breakfast, you will transfer back to Kampala with en route stopover in Mbarara town for Lunch.

5 Days Uganda Rwanda Primates Safari

The 5 day Uganda Rwanda Safari starts from Kigali crossing into Uganda for Chimpanzee tracking in Kibale National Park, The primates capital in East Africa and then back to Kigali for mountain gorilla trekking. This tour starts and ends in Kigali.

ITINERARY   

DAY 1: PICK UP – TRANSFER TO KIBALE NATIONAL PARK

Arrival and pick up by our company tour guide at the Kigali International airport or from your hotel early morning  driving across into Uganda to Kibale National Park. The drive will take approximately 5 hours driving through the scenic Ugandan country side. Dinner and overnight at Crater Lodge (Luxury) , Primates Lodge Kibale (Mid range) or Chimpanzee Guest House (Basic)

 

 

DAY 2: CHIMPANZEE TRACKING – TRANSFER TO QUEEN ELIZABETH NATIONAL PARK

Set off early morning after a quick cup of coffee and set off to assemble at the Kibale park headquarters by 7:00 am for briefing on chimps tracking. Enter the forest in search for chimps. The search can go up to 4 hours . Return to your hotel and have lunch and after which head out for a community visit to the Bigodi swamp for bird watching after which transfer to Queen Elizabeth national park. Dinner and Overnight at Mweya Safari Lodge(Luxury), Ihamba Lodge (Mid-range) Enganzi Lodge (mid/ Budget)

 

DAY 3: GAME DRIVE AND BOAT CRUISE

Set off quite early today with packed breakfast for your game drive taking you the Kasenyi plains of the park to catch the early risers before they get back to their hideout. The wildlife to spot include hippos, buffaloes, hartebeests, leopard, lions and a large number of bird species. Return to your lodge for lunch and later head out for a boat cruise along the Kazinga channel. Later return to your lodge for Dinner and overnight at hotel of Day 2.

 

 

DAY 4: TRANSFER TO VOLCANOES NATIONAL PARK

Wake up to a warm breakfast at your hotel and get ready for a long drive to Rwanda and the Volcanoes national park. The drive will take you through the Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth, where you will view tree climbing lions and continue your journey crossing into Rwanda driving to Volcanoes National Park, Home of the rare endangered mountain gorillas. Dinner and Overnight stay at Mountain Gorilla View Lodge (Luxury), Le Bambou Gorilla Lodge (Mid-range), Muhabura Hotel (Basic)

 

 

DAY 5: GORILLA TREKKING – DEPARTURE

Wake up early for a quick cup of coffee at your hotel and with a packed snack from your hotel, drive to the Kinigi park headquarters for briefing about gorilla trekking do’s and don’ts. These are important rules set to protect the health of both visitors and mountain gorillas. You have a chance to decide to go for a hard, medium or simple trek depending on your physical ability.

Trekking for gorilla in Rwanda usually last 2 – 7 hours depending on the movement of the gorillas. A head guide will escort you into the forest plus an armed guard in search for your gorilla group. Once you meet the gorillas, you are allowed 1 hour with the gentle giants. After trekking descend back to the park head offices where you will meet your guide to drive you to your hotel and have lunch and departure with drop off at either your  hotel or airport

Day 3: Virunga gorilla trekking
Set off early after breakfast at your hotel, driving to Bunagana border crossing into Congo. Drive to the Virunga national park head offices for briefing before your gorillas adventure. Trekking for mountain gorilla in Congo usually last 2 – 4 hours depending on the movement of the gorillas. A head guide will escort you into the forest plus an armed guard in search for your gorilla group. Once you meet the gorillas, you are allowed 1 hour with the gentle giants.
Later cross back to Kisoro for Dinner and overnight at hotel of Day1

Day 4: Transfer back to Kigali for city tour – Transfer to Volcanoes NP
Have breakfast at your hotel and be ready to drive back to Kigali. If you missed city tour on the fast day, head for city to visit the genocide memorial site, market visits, and national museum. Later drive to Volcanoes national park, Musanze province. Driving time to Volcanoes national park is 2 – 3 hours. Dinner and overnight at at Mountain Gorilla View Lodge, Le Bambou Gorilla Lodge, Muhabura Hotel (Basic)

Day 5: Gorilla Trekking – Ibyiwacu cultural village
Wake up early for a quick cup of coffee at your hotel and with a packed snuck from your hotel, drive to the Kinigi park headquarters for briefing about gorilla trekking do’s and don’ts. These are important rules set to protect the health of both visitors and mountain gorillas. You have a chance to decide to go for a hard, medium or simple trek depending on your physical ability.

Day 6: Golden Monkey tracking / Dian Fossey Hike – Burera Ruhondo twin Lakes Tour
Just Like Trekking for gorillas, golden monkey tracking and Dian Fossey tomb hike takes place at volcanoes national park, starting with briefing at the Kinigi headquarters and then driving to the trekking head trail where you begin your hike. Return to your hotel for lunch and in the afternoon transfer go visit twin lakes of Burera and Ruhondo. Dinner and overnight at your hotel

Day 7: Transfer to Lake Kivu – Boat Ride
Today you will transfer to Gisenyi Lake Kivu – Rwanda’s larges fresh water lake. With a cup of coffee at your hotel set off for Gisenyi with en route visit to the Gisenyi genocide memorial site reaching lake Kivu in time for lunch. After Lunch have an afternoon boat ride along lake Kivu touring its islands. Dinner and overnight at Lake Kivu Serena hotel (Luxury)/ Palm gardens resort (Deluxe)/ Paradise Marahide (Budget)

Day 8: Transfer to Kigali for city tour – Departure
